Great Northern Introduces New Brand for its Retail Display Products and Services Business

APPLETON, Wis. March 18, 2014 – Great Northern Corporation, one of the largest independent turnkey display producers in North America, announced today that its retail display products and services business will now operate under the new brand, Great Northern Instore.

“The new name and logo more accurately reflect the investment Great Northern has made to provide full-service solutions to our customers and prospects. Whether it’s for retailers or consumer product manufacturers, when it comes to developing and executing successful instore programs, we offer a complete turnkey process,” said Mike Schliesmann, Senior Vice President, Business Unit Manager for the new brand.

Great Northern Corporation Wins 11 OMA Awards at GlobalShop

Awards include 4 golds, 3 silvers and 4 bronzes

APPLETON, Wis., March 27, 2014 – Great Northern Corporation recently took home 11 awards — including four gold, three silver and four bronze awards — from GlobalShop 2014, the world’s largest annual retail design and marketing event.

Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) announced the winners of its 56th annual Outstanding Marketing at Retail Achievement (OMA) Awards Competition during GlobalShop 2014, held March 18-20 in Las Vegas. Entries were judged on design, innovation, interactivity and the proven ability to lift sales.

“We are very pleased to be recognized so strongly in the industry,” said Mike Schliesmann, Great Northern senior vice president, business unit manager. “And we’re happy for our customers who during the course of the judging term were able to achieve these successful merchandising campaigns and product launches with the help of our creative input.”

Great Northern Instore Earns Platinum Award at Design of the Times Competition

APPLETON, Wis., October 30, 2014 – Great Northern Instore, an industry leader in retail and point-of-purchase displays, won five awards, including one of only four Platinum awards, in the Design of the Times competition announced Oct. 22 at the 2014 Shopper Marketing Expo in Minneapolis.

Great Northern earned the Platinum award for its Purina Tidy Cats Lift Test PetSmart Half Pallet display for client Nestle-Purina Petcare Co. The display also won a Gold award in the Specialty Stores category. Platinum awards are selected as the best in their category.

“We’re really proud of our success, but even more committed to helping our partners succeed at retail,” said Patrick Graf, vice president of sales development at Great Northern Instore. “This interactive display clearly communicated the Tidy Cats message and engaged the shopper.”

The Design of the Times contest recognizes the retail industry’s most inspiring and creative in-store activation tactics and campaigns. Hundreds of entries were evaluated on how well they met the four “C”s of effective in-store activation: Command attention, Connect with the shopper, Convey information and Close the sale, as well as how well each entry met its stated objectives. This was the 19th annual competition.
