Great Northern Instore Announces December Excellence Award Winner

Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the December Instore Excellence Award is our Chippewa Falls/Swedesboro team for the 3M Filtrete display.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Chippewa Falls/Swedesboro team was challenged to create new awareness of Filtrete products with shoppers at Meijer stores; to better organize the products; to simplify the shopping experience; and to help build repeat sales.

The team’s solution was a permanent display featuring bright colors, shelf liners and product dividers for quick visibility, as well as consumer friendly language to increase product awareness. This display system is delivery weekly POS gains of 200-300%.  As a result of this work, 3M was nominated for a Meijer Vendor of the Year award!

Great Northern Announces October Instore Excellence Award Winner

Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the October Instore Excellence Award is our Chippewa Falls/Swedesboro team for the Best Buy Logitech Display.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Chippewa Falls/Swedesboro team was challenged to create a new type of merchandizer for the wireless Bluetooth speaker market in Best Buy Canada stores. This display needed to be permanent, contemporary looking, and maximize product visibility.

The team’s solution was a larger-than-life display with a bold shape and built-in shelves that are accessible from both sides. Since the display will be used for upwards of a year, the side graphics are mounted via removable screws to allow updatability.

Great Northern Instore Announces August Instore Excellence Award

APPLETON, WI., September 29, 2016 –  Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the August Instore Excellence Award is our Chippewa Falls/Swedesboro team for Bai All Natural Drinks.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Chippewa Falls/Swedesboro team was challenged to create a family of hutches/case stackers that minimized the number of displays and maximized the number of configurations of product sold at retail. The displays needed to be structurally sound and easily assembled in store.

The team’s solution included four displays that maintained brand consistency throughout all four designs. The designs are upscale and clean, with 100% litho graphics. This was also the first project to use the patent pending, QuickSet™ Hutch as part of a full-fledged CPG rollout. In a matter of 90 days, Chippewa Falls/Swedesboro designed and produced over 15,000 turnkey displays!

This bin is a high impact merchandising destination, designed to drive impulse purchases of Hot Wheels™ cars, track sets and other track building components. The dramatic oversize track and bold colors of this display create a beacon for the targeted audience. The inclusion of actual track pieces around the bin created an additional level of excitement at retail.

This themed merchandising vehicle promoted the purchase of cased and single serve Pepsi product, while reinforcing the company’s longstanding sponsorship of the event. The display is over 8 feet tall with an open area between the towers to create a dramatic focal point for the product. Elements of the spanner structure are pre-assembled to ease in-store execution.

Great Northern Instore Announces July Instore Excellence Award Winner

APPLETON, WI., September 2, 2016 – Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the July Instore Excellence Award is our Racine location, for their “Pepsi NFL Product Wall” project.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Racine team was challenged to develop a solution that would eliminate the time consuming task of building large format in-store product stack promotions, while still maintaining the visual impact of these creative executions.

Racine’s solution was a corrugate, two-sided wall with stacked product imagery. The entire wall was slotted to receive lugged components of various sizes and complexities. The structure was lightweight and easily installed. This system is built from the floor up without the use of ladders, eliminating all safety issues with installment.

Great Northern Instore Announces May Instore Excellence Winner

APPLETON, WI., July 1, 2016 – Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the May Instore Excellence Award is our Swedesboro location, for their Heaven Hill Burnett’s Summer Sweep Stakes Display.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Swedesboro team’s objective was to create a fun and lively co-branded display program that would align the brand with the “More Fun Tour” while generating excitement through four key program initiatives. These include a Customer Retail Sweeps, Custom More Fun Tour Content, Tour Sponsorship and Integration with Key Tour Stop Activations and Local Support.

Swedesboro’s solution was creation of a dimensional, semi assembled Concert Stage that reinforced the various promotional elements and the excitement of a concert event while merchandising cased product. What makes this display different is that this themed display shipped semi assembled allowing for quick assembly at retail. The dimensional concert stage header and Side guitar graphic elements creates a visually engaging program that targets existing and new fans of Burnett’s Vodka

Great Northern Instore Announces April Instore Excellence Winner

APPLETON, WI., May 23, 2016 – Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the April Instore Excellence Award is our Racine location, for their Pepsi™ Emoji National Launch.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Racine team’s objective was to create a family of impactful merchandisers for placement into nationwide retail environments to entice the purchase of Pepsi’s new Emoji covered 20oz bottles.

Four merchandisers were developed for the program- two floor displays and two dump bin configurations. These units were specifically engineered for mass, drug, grocery and “C” store channels. Additionally, all of the designs provide some level of enhanced product visibility. The round floor stand provides 360 degrees of merchandising, while the square dump bin utilizes a clear front panel to improve product awareness and availability.

Great Northern Instore Announces March Instore Excellence Winners

APPLETON, WI., May 10, 2016 – Great Northern Instore is excited to announce the latest Instore Excellence Awards winners. The winners are the Chippewa Falls location for their Zelda™ Best Buy Quarter Pallet for Nintendo®, and the Racine location for their Hot Wheels™ “MAKE IT EPIC” Dump Bin.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Chippewa Falls team’s objective was to develop a unique and effective freestanding quarter pallet set for the new Zelda™ Game at Best Buy. By using elements from the game the Chippewa Falls team was able to create a dual sided display with exciting visuals to draw customers in.

Great Northern Instore Receives 4 OMAs

APPLETON, WI., March 30, 2016 – Great Northern Instore, an industry leader in retail and point-of-purchase displays, received four awards, including a Gold award, in the Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Awards Competition held March 24 at the 2016 Global Shop Expo in Las Vegas.

POPAI’s OMA Awards Competition is the premier award show recognizing the most innovative and effective in-store and point of purchase displays. Since 1958, this competition held alongside the industry’s largest tradeshow, GlobalShop, recognizes in-store marketing programs that lift sales, make products memorable, and entice consumers to purchase products. After a two-round judging process, displays are awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze OMA Statuettes at the Annual OMA Awards Celebration by a prestigious panel of judges, composed of producers, brand marketers and retailers.

Great Northern Instore Announces January Excellence Winner

APPLETON, WI., February 17, 2016 – Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the January Instore Excellence Award is our Racine location, for their Kickstart Re-Chargeable Cooler Saddle Merchandiser and Kickstart L.E.D Cooler Sign.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Racine team’s objective was to create a larger and more compelling in-store presence for existing freestanding cooler units that were merchandising the Kickstart brand. The “Saddle” merchandiser is the first of its kind in the beverage category, and rear mounted cooler sign draws consumer attention via the use of battery powered sequencing LED’s.

With mobile cooler displays typically overlooked due to their low height, the winning displays use their unique colors and LED lights to command the consumer’s attention and increase visibility.
