Great Northern is pleased to announce that Jeff Michels was recently promoted to President of the Packaging and Instore Groups. Michels moves into this newly created role after 14 years as the Packaging Business Unit Manager and a total of 21 years with Great Northern. He will have direct responsibility for Great Northern facilities in Racine, Wis.; Minneapolis, Minn.; and Chippewa Falls, Wis., in addition to his current leadership of the Appleton, Wis. plant.

Great Northern Instore Announces May Instore Excellence Winner

APPLETON, WI., July 1, 2016 – Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the May Instore Excellence Award is our Swedesboro location, for their Heaven Hill Burnett’s Summer Sweep Stakes Display.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Swedesboro team’s objective was to create a fun and lively co-branded display program that would align the brand with the “More Fun Tour” while generating excitement through four key program initiatives. These include a Customer Retail Sweeps, Custom More Fun Tour Content, Tour Sponsorship and Integration with Key Tour Stop Activations and Local Support.

Swedesboro’s solution was creation of a dimensional, semi assembled Concert Stage that reinforced the various promotional elements and the excitement of a concert event while merchandising cased product. What makes this display different is that this themed display shipped semi assembled allowing for quick assembly at retail. The dimensional concert stage header and Side guitar graphic elements creates a visually engaging program that targets existing and new fans of Burnett’s Vodka

Great Northern Instore Announces April Instore Excellence Winner

APPLETON, WI., May 23, 2016 – Great Northern Instore is excited to announce that the winner of the April Instore Excellence Award is our Racine location, for their Pepsi™ Emoji National Launch.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Racine team’s objective was to create a family of impactful merchandisers for placement into nationwide retail environments to entice the purchase of Pepsi’s new Emoji covered 20oz bottles.

Four merchandisers were developed for the program- two floor displays and two dump bin configurations. These units were specifically engineered for mass, drug, grocery and “C” store channels. Additionally, all of the designs provide some level of enhanced product visibility. The round floor stand provides 360 degrees of merchandising, while the square dump bin utilizes a clear front panel to improve product awareness and availability.

Great Northern Instore Announces March Instore Excellence Winners

APPLETON, WI., May 10, 2016 – Great Northern Instore is excited to announce the latest Instore Excellence Awards winners. The winners are the Chippewa Falls location for their Zelda™ Best Buy Quarter Pallet for Nintendo®, and the Racine location for their Hot Wheels™ “MAKE IT EPIC” Dump Bin.

The Instore Excellence Award is an internal competition between Great Northern Instore creative teams. Creative team designers and engineers are experts in concept development, ensuring creative and practical solutions that fit seamlessly into the retail environment.

The Chippewa Falls team’s objective was to develop a unique and effective freestanding quarter pallet set for the new Zelda™ Game at Best Buy. By using elements from the game the Chippewa Falls team was able to create a dual sided display with exciting visuals to draw customers in.

The Racine team’s objective was to create a high impact merchandising destination to drive impulse purchases of Hot Wheels™ cars, track sets and other track building components. The dramatic oversize track and bold colors of this display create a beacon for the targeted audience. The inclusion of actual track created an additional level of excitement at retail.
