Muse®: Creatables End Cap

Objectives:

  • Develop an end of aisle display for Purina® Muse® Creatables, a natural, grain free supplemental feeding line, that could command shopper attention at Petco
  • Educate the shopper on Muse® Creatables and how they could customize flavors for their cat food by choosing a base, adding vegetables and topping with a sauce
  • Navigate shoppers through the endcap to build and buy flavorful meals for their cats

What we did:

  • Developed point-of-sale trays that clearly organized the product categories of food base, vegetables and sauce while keeping each individual product front and center
  • Used creative color coding and clear numbering to help the shopper navigate the retail display
  • Engineered a dimensional header concept with sweeping curves and large lug-ons to command shopper attention
  • Used bold yet muted colors to convey a natural, organic feel that matched the product’s ingredient sourcing
  • Applied fun sketches of happy cats to show the emotional benefit of buying the product: the joy of giving their cat exactly what they love

Results:

  • Built trial and awareness with a display that was integral to the multi-channel “Clean Plate™ Guarantee” marketing campaign
  • Spurred basket-building, with shoppers buying multiple items from the display
  • Excellent sales spurred Purina® to launch new flavors for the line

Pringles feeder inline display

Pringles: Happy Snacking

Objective

  • Develop a merchandising vehicle to garner Pringles additional placement at Meijer
  • Drive impulse purchases, across the various Pringles’ flavors

What we did

  • Created an easy to load, easy to shop, gravity-feed solution that keeps products at a shopper’s fingertips
  • Provided large spaces for branding
  • Utilized Pringles original red color for branding and stopping power

Results

  • The units were designed to fit on top of the coolers at the checkout…successfully driving impulse purchase
  • Shopper data has shown Pringles is driving incremental sales, including bringing in new buyers to the category at Meijer
  • Simple set-up and stocking has generated fans at Meijer stores

Square interactive pallet display

Square: Sams Club Merchandiser

Objective

  • Merchandise Square products at Sam’s Club…initially in a pallet, but capable of being moved to an inline location.
  • Command Sam’s Club member attention and then educate them on the features and benefits of the products.

What we did

  • Created an “in-use” environment for the product…sitting on a faux countertop (vinyl-clad MDF) in front of a coffee shop scene.
  • Graphics popped off the litho-mounted corrugate substrate
  • Detail oriented: product merchandising boxes were folded for clean edges on all four sides and printed a bright orange-yellow to set off the product.

Results

  • Sales have met all expectations, required a restock of the pallet trays
  • Length of time in-store was extended by removing the center section of the display counter and placing as a demo unit on the Sam’s Club aisle rack.

Fabric: Small Footprint Floorplans

Objective

  • Display and encourage cyclists to try and buy Fabric’s award-winning line of products
  • Develop a family of displays that can fit into a variety of retail environments
  • The activations must be boldly branded and merchandise a variety of products

What we did

  • The team developed two small footprint floor stands to merchandise the products
  • Engineering added features for stiffness and stability so these activations would stand up to an extended life at retail
  • Brand graphics were printed boldly on the front and backs of the displays

Results

  • Retail execution was simple and compliance was flawless according to a post-evaluation survey
  • Sales results came in double digits above expectations

3M: Command Planogram

Objective

  • Command and Meijer wanted to re-ignite sales from their hooks and hanging strips planogram
  • Make the section easy to find, simple to shop, and inspire shoppers to purchase additional products

What we did

  • We surveyed shoppers in 30 Meijer stores about the existing shopping experience
  • Taking our survey findings we:
    • Added bold headers for navigation
    • Defined sections based on Command product color codes with backer paper and blades
    • Provided inspirational imagery to show additional uses

Results

  • Collaboration across manufacturer, brand, retailers, and merchandising group led to a very successful implementation
  • Sales results show that our shopper insights concerning branding and product organization were on the mark

Pepsi: Say it With Pepsi Emoji

Objective

  • Come up with a way to counter a 2% decrease in carbonated beverage sales
  • Leverage social media to create engagement and build momentum for Pepsi’s #sayitwithpepsi campaign
  • Use consumer insights to drive the strategy

What we did

  • Created 163,000 retail displays featuring emoji-clad Pepsi bottles targeted to top retailers
  • Developed four merchandisers (two floor displays and two dump bin configurations). Displays were engineered for mass, drug, grocery and C store channels and designed for enhanced product visibility
  • Manufacturing processes were carefully selected to meet a Spring launch date

Results

  • The campaign is the largest promotional launch ever by Pepsi
  • Slated to spread into 100 global markets as of 2016
